Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mayor of İstanbul, and Hüsnü Akhan, Chairman of Doğuş Construction participated in the test drive. Doğuş Construction had signed the contract of “Eminönü-Alibeyköy Tramline Construction, Electromechanical Works and Delivery of Rolling Stocks” Project on October 13, 2016, which was tendered by the Head of Rail System Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on June 29, 2016.

“Eminönü-Alibeyköy Tramline” Project is one of the most prestigious infrastructure projects of Istanbul involving the construction of 10,2 km tramline, electromechanical works of Turkey’s first ‘catenary-free' double-track mass transit system with 14 stations as well as the delivery of Turkish rolling stocks with energy supply system. The approximately 9-kilometer Cibali-Alibeyköy section of the project will be put into service on January 1, 2021.
