“Ergene Deep Marine Discharge" Project which will enable wastewater discharge from Ergene Basin Industrial Estate Joint Wastewater Treatment Plants to Marmara Sea, has reached its final stage.
Within the scope of the project, 4.500 meters of deepsea discharge system was constructed at 47 meters below sea level by installing concrete covered steel pipes with a diameter of Ø 2.200 mm as well as network lines and tunnels. This system is constructed to have a wastewater discharge capacity of 650.000 m3 /day while the project also involves filling, mechanical and electrical works, supply of network equipment, tests and preparation of as-built projects. With this project realized in accordance with “Ergene Basin Action Plan”, Ergene Basin will be discharged from wastewater and in this way salinity content rate of the river basin which is one of the most important parameters, will be avoided by discharging the wastewater 4.500 meters away and 47 meters below sea level.
The ceremony for the installation of the final pipe to Marmara Sea took place with the participation of the President of Turkish Assembly Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop and former Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu, on April 21, 2019.
