Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy is not only the largest metro line which was awarded to a sole contractor in Turkey but also the first-ever automated driverless metro line of Turkey. Dogus Group Chairman Ferit F. Şahenk, Mr. Gönül Talu, Chairman and Executive Director and Mr. Burak Talu, Vice Chairman and President of Executive Board participated in the opening ceremony.
Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy Metro, which consists of 16 stations with a total length of 18 km, has 7 stations including Çakmak, Ihlamurkuyu, Altınşehir, İmam Hatip Lisesi, Dudullu, Necip Fazıl and Çekmeköy / Sancaktepe.
6 million Istanbul residents living on the Anatolian side were looking forward to the opening of the new metro line. The new line is expected to serve approximately 700 thousand passengers per day.
